The boys are really back in town now, with the CW’s The Flash returning from its winter break Tuesday and Arrow (1.1/3) stepping into 2016 last night. Star City’s emerald archer had some scores to settle in Wednesday’s “Blood Debts” episode, and some ratings traction to gain. Although even with its Season 3 winter return of January 21, 2015, Arrow was actually up 10% in adults 18-49 from its winter finale December 9. Lead-out Supernatural (0.7/2) was even with its last original late last year but down 22% from its Season 10 winter return of January 20, 2015, which faced a State of the Union speech.

With a steady American Idol (2.4/8) topping the night in the demo and viewers, Fox tied CBS for the No. 1 spot among the Big 4 overall in the demo with a 1.7/5 rating. In its second week, Idol lead-out Second Chance (1.0/3) took a 16% decline from what was already a soft debut.

The most-watched net of the night with an audience of 7.72 million, CBS saw its Wednesday start with 2 Broke Girls (1.7/5) and Mike & Molly (1.6/5) both even with last week, as was Criminal Minds (2.0/6) in the demo. On the relatively calm night, newbie Code Black (1.4/5) was CBS’ only rise with a 17% lift from its January 13 winter return.

While The Mysteries Of Laura (1.2/4) was even with last week, the rest of NBC’s night saw double-digit declines in the early numbers. Law & Order: SVU (1.7/5) was down 15% from its January 12 episode and a non-crossover Chicago P.D. (1.5/5) took a not-unexpected 25% drop. ABC’s The Middle (1.8/6) and The Goldbergs (2.0/6) were pretty much even with last week, with the former dipping 5% in 18-49s. Following a Modern Family (1.6/5) encore, a new Black-ish (1.7/5) was down 10%, just like the week before. Ending the night for the net, American Crime (1.0/3) slipped 9% from its January 12 broadcast.
