It was a night of winter finales and a certain annual fashion show on Tuesday, as well as assertions from Selena Gomez that indeed she does sing live onstage. Either way, it was not pretty for The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (2.3/8) last night.
The annual supermodel extravaganza was down 32% among adults 18-49 from last year’s airing on December 9 with an appearance by Taylor Swift. While the second-highest-rated show of the night, Tuesday’s 10 PM Victoria’s Secret was a low for the Fashion Show and CBS, which has broadcast the event since 2002. The previous low was a 2.6 rating back in 2007. The earlier part of CBS’ Tuesday saw encores of NCIS (1.4/5) and NCIS: New Orleans (1.3/4).

Certainly compared to last year, the Fashion Show had a lot more competition in its time slot with a strong Chicago Fire (2.0/7) bopping up 5% from last week. That rise has the Dick Wolf-produced series matching a season high in fast nationals in the key demo and hitting a new season high in viewers with 9.1 million watching. In fact, all of NBC’s night saw small rises with a nearly-at-its-season-finale The Voice (2.7/9) and newbie Chicago Med (2.1/7) up 4% and 5% among the 18-49s. All of which saw NBC win the night with a 2.3/8 rating and 10.53 million viewers.
Winning was not on the track for the winter finale of The Flash (1.2/4) last night. Coming off the success of last year’s second annual crossover with Arrow, the Scarlet Speedster series stumbled 14% in the demo to a season low in fast nationals. Winter finale-to winter finale, and even with appearances by Star Wars’ Mark Hamill as the Trickster and Legends Of Tomorrow’s Captain Cold, Tuesday’s Flash was down 20% from the Season 1 winter finale of December 9, 2014. Lead-out iZombie (0.5/2) lost 16% from its December 1 show in its own midseason finale.
Fox’s only offering of the night was the two-hour Season 1 finale of Scream Queens (0.9/3), which was even with last week’s 1-hour 9 PM show. No word on whether the Ryan Murphy EP’d series will be back for a second round, but delayed viewing stats certainly will be a factor in that consideration. In Live + 7 season-to-date ratings, Fox has SQ drawing a 2.2/7 result among the 18-49s.
ABC’s night started with The Muppets (1.1/4) even with last week’s season low and Fresh Off The Boat (1.2/4) was down 7%. The Season 3 winter finale of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (1.3/4) was even with its December 1 show but fell 24% in the demo from its Season 2 winter finale of December 9 last year. Last night was the lowest midseason ender result ever for the Marvel superspy series.
