David M. Rosenthal, who hit a home run helming the September box office hit The Perfect Guy, has boarded Sierra Pictures’ action thriller How It Ends. The Black List script from Brooks McLaren centers on a mysterious apocalyptic event that turns the roads into mayhem, and a young father will stop at nothing to get home to his pregnant wife on the other side of the country.
Paul Schiff Productions is producing with Sierra Pictures, which is developing and financing. Sierra’s Nick Meyer will executive produce and Sierra/Affinity is handling international sales. Sierra/Affinity EVP Kelly McCormick is overseeing.
Screen Gems’ The Perfect Guy opened September 11 and finished No. 1 on the weekend with a $25.9 million take, on its way to a worldwide cume of $59.4M. Michael Ealy, Sanaa Lathan starred in the thriller. Rosenthal’s other directing credits include 2013’s A Single Shot starring Sam Rockwell and and 2009’s romantic comedy Falling Up.
