A whopping 42% of Fandango ticket buyers said they plan to go back for a repeat viewing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which accounts for the massive box office take domestically of the latest in the Disney franchise, which is now up to $540.3M after this past weekend. With one week left to go, it may end the year around the $700M.
Meanwhile, Fandango also compiled a Top 10 list of favorite films from their core ticket-buying base. Some of these are also on the critics’ lists for possible Oscar nods in various categories. Not all are box office blockbusters, either. Three are from Universal, three from Disney and two from Warner Bros. Fox and Lionsgate share one apiece.
The fans’ top picks for The 10 Best Movies of 2015 are as follows:
1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Disney)
2. The Martian (Fox)
3. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 (Lionsgate)
4. Avengers: Age Of Ultron (Disney)
