Veteran NBC PR executive Nate Kirtman, most recently SVP, Corporate PR for NBC Entertainment, is leaving the network. A replacement is expected to be named within the next month by NBC’s head of communications, EVP Chip Sullivan, who joined the network in April. Before being named SVP Corporate PR in 2012, Kirtman was SVP Publicity, NBC Universal Entertainment Television, where he oversaw Late Night and Daytime publicity and corporate communications, among other areas.
Kirtman, who is expected to segue into another job shortly, originally joined then-GE-owned NBC in 1998 as Senior Press Manager. After stints at other GE units, managing GE.com and serving as Manager of Marketing Communication for GE Aviation in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kirtman returned to NBC in 2006 as VP, NBC Universal Television Group Publicity.
A graduate of Pomona College, Kirtman is a trustee at the college. He also serves as chairman of the California Lottery Commission and was a 9th round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 1992. Here is the email Kirtman just sent internally, announcing his departure.
I am exiting NBCUniversal at the beginning of the New Year, leaving behind memories of partnership, challenges confronted and overcome, successful launches, innovations and other remembrances too numerous to mention. I wish you all continued success and look forward to hearing from you going forward.
