Matthew Perry will lead the cast of The End Of Longing, his playwriting debut that will have its world premiere in February at London’s Playhouse Theatre. Veteran Lindsay Posner (Speed-The-Plow) is directing after the pair teamed in 2003 on the West End on David Mamet’s comedy Sexual Perversity In Chicago.
End Of Longing, a dark comedy, will have a limited run from February 2-May 14. It centers on Jack, Stephanie, Joseph and Stevie, four lost souls entering their 40s and searching for meaning. After sharing one raucous night together in a downtown Los Angeles bar, their lives become irreversibly entwined in a roller-coaster journey that forces them to confront the darker sides of their relationships. More casting is underway in the production from Ambassador Theatre Group.
“Being on stage makes you feel naked,” Perry said. “Being on stage in a play that I have written will make me feel doubly naked. So if you’d like to see me doubly naked, tickets go on sale today.”
Perry currently stars opposite Thomas Lennon on CBS’ The Odd Couple, which is set for a second season in 2016. That’s of course based on Neil Simon’s Broadway hit that first appeared in 1965 with Art Carney and Walter Matthau.
