In support of the company’s plans for an expanded 2016 production and development slate, Indigenous Media has tapped Ben Fast as its new Executive Vice President, Development, and Maira Nevarez as its new Executive Vice President, Finance and Operations. Both positions report to Jake Avnet.

Nevarez formerly served as Vice President Finance, E! Entertainment and Esquire Television Networks at NBC Universal. Before that, she served as Director, Finance Business Licensing Support at Paramount Pictures and VP Finance at Univision and TeleFutura Television Group. She received a BA from UCLA and an MBA from Harvard.

Fast previously served as Director of Scripted Television at The Weinstein Company, where he worked on the Lifetime production War & Peace, starring Paul Dano and Lily James, and on the upcoming NBC miniseries The Reaper. In addition, he packaged shows with Gran Via and The Firm. Before TWC he produced several digital shorts and series and wrote for TNT’s Leverage. He received a BA from Princeton and an MFA from USC.

Among Indigenous Media’s upcoming projects, it is partnering with actor/producer Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games, The Kids are All Right) on four incubators over 2016 powered by The Black List and intended to discover and mentor emerging film talent with focus on the young adult market.
