Following the successful broadcast of Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors, NBC is giving viewers another chance to catch the TV movie with a repeat airing slated for Christmas day from 9 to 11 PM.
With 13 million viewers during the initial broadcast, and live +3 nudging the total up by 2.5 million to an overall 15.6 million, plus a 27% hike that nudged the 18-49 demo from a 1.8 to 2.3, Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors was a big hit for the peacock network. Overall, it was the most-watched movie on broadcast television since Jesse Stone: Innocence Lost on CBS back in 2011, and bested the ratings of previous week’s success The Wiz! Live.
Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors is the first in a planned series of TV movies inspired by the Country Music legend’s songs and produced by her, with Jolene coming next.
