White will oversee all series development and production for the network, leading the Travel Channel programming team based in Knoxville. Scripps Networks Interactive last month announced that the network’s headquarters would be relocated from Chevy Chase, Maryland to Tennessee in 2016.
“Courtney has been a driving force in the success of our home networks for many years,” said Kathleen Finch, Scripps Networks Interactive’s Chief Programming, Content and Brand Officer. “She has an intuitive understanding of what it takes to make hit shows on a consistent basis, through great ideas and execution. Courtney is a hands-on executive with a proven track record of driving ratings across genres, and her leadership of programming at Travel Channel will be key to our work to grow that network for the long term.”
Courtney White joined Scripps Networks Interactive in 2005 as a program development executive for HGTV and has created numerous series over the last ten years, including the Beachfront Bargain Hunt and Hawaii Life franchises, as well as special events including Ellen’s Design Challenge and Selling Spelling Manor.
Prior to joining Scripps Networks Interactive, White spent more than a decade developing and producing documentary television. Her credits include the HBO documentaries Dealing Dogs, Through A Child’s Eyes: September 11, 2001 and ‘Twas The Night. She also produced several series for History, A&E, National Geographic Channel and PBS.
