While director Quentin Tarantino is busy on other fronts these days, The Weinstein Company is continuing to prime the pump for The Hateful Eight, the writer-director’s Western that hits theaters in 70mm on Christmas Day and on January 8 nationwide. The first full trailer has just dropped for the post-Civil War drama, which pits eight rugged souls with different agendas holed up in the same Wyoming stagecoach stop during a snowstorm.
Kurt Russell plays a hangman who is taking his prisoner (Jennifer Jason Leigh) to Red Rock to be strung up, and lets his fellow travelers know that the $10,000 reward that comes with delivering her belongs to him. That sure gets everyone — Samuel L Jackson, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Demian Bichir — thinking.
Tarantino takes it from there; as Jackson’s bounty hunter says, “Startin’ to see pictures, aint ya?”
