Disney used ABC’s high-profile Thursday night TGIT lineup to land its first 60-second TV spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which pretty much takes care of the last folks who might not have known that the pic opens worldwide on December 18. It features the broadest strokes of the new story and literally introduces newcomers Daisy Ridley as Rey and John Boyega as Finn by showing the scene where they introduce themselves to one another. Later, an original Star Wars castmember makes a brief appearance. (When Han Solo says, “You might need this,” you listen.)
The tagline: “Every generation has a story.” The idea? There is a little something for everyone in JJ Abrams’ new world.
We’ve seen a lot of this footage before but there is some new insight from Ford’s rogue smuggler plus some clues about Finn’s backstory and more light saber action.
Check out the spot above and tell us if you think it rallies the troops.
