Harry Potter series Producer David Heyman has been selected to receive the The Producers Guild of America’s 2016 David O. Selznick Achievement Award. Named for the producer behind Rebecca and Gone With The Wind, the award recognizes a producer’s outstanding body of work in motion pictures. The award will be presented during the annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony, to be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
Educated in Britain, Heyman moved to Los Angeles in 1986, first working as an executive at Warner Bros. and later as Vice President at United Artists. He is currently at work on the Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and is also in post-production on The Light Between The Oceans, starring Michael Fassbender, Rachel Weisz and Alicia Vikander. His previous work includes Gravity, Paddington, The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, The Testament of Youth, We’re The Millers, and I Am Legend. He is best known however for producing the original Harry Potter film series, which began after he read the first book prior to its publication, recognizing the potential for film.
