The Producers Guild of America has issued its list of five feature documentary nominees for the 27th annual PGA Awards. Among them is The Hunting Ground, the controversial film about campus rape that CNN aired Sunday night. Also competing are Amy, which chronicles the late singer Amy Winehouse; The Look Of Silence, about an optician who confronts the men who killed his brother during the 1960s Indonesian genocide; Meru, the Sundance award winner about mountain climbing in the Himalayas; and Something Better To Come, Danish film about a young Russian woman who lives amid the largest garbage dump in Europe.
The eligible producers of the documentaries will be announced January 5, along with the rest of the PGA Awards nominations. The hardware will be handed out January 23 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. Jim Gianopulos, David Heyman and Shonda Rhimes are set to receive special honors at the ceremony.
