Nikki Toscano Sets Dramas At Fox & ABC Produced By Johnny Depp & Eva Longoria

Writer-producer Nikki Toscano has set up two drama projects with big-name auspices attached. At Fox, Toscano has Designated Survivor, produced by Johnny Depp and his company Infinitum Nihil. At ABC, Toscano has an untitled project produced by Eva Longoria and her UnbeliEVAble Entertainment as well as Conde Nast Entertainment. Both shows come from Universal TV where Toscano has an overall deal.

Hidden away in an undisclosed location with Presidential-level security, the Designated Survivor is ready to take the reins of the President should the unthinkable happen and the rest of the government is wiped out in an attack. Toscano is writing the project, which stems from a blind script deal Depp’s Infinitum Nihil had with Fox. Toscano and Depp will executive produce with Infinitum Nihil’s Christi Dembrowski.

abclogoThe ABC drama is a Texas-sized soap about an ambitious political family with differing agendas loosely inspired by a 2013 Vogue article Pair Of Aces, which profiled Democratic rising-star twins Julián Castro, mayor of San Antonio, and Joaquin, then-newly elected U.S. congressman. UnbeliEVAble and ABC first took a stab at developing a Texas political family drama using the article as source material last season with a different writer. Toscano is writing and will executive produce with UnveliEVAble’s Longoria and Ben Spector and Conde Nast’s Dawn Ostroff. This marks Toscano’s return to ABC where she worked on another primetime soap, Revenge.

Toscano landed her first pilot order in 2014 with CBS’ Red Zone. Her series credits also include A&E’s Bates Motel. She is repped by UTA, manager Carel Cutler and attorney Patti Felker.

UnbeliEVAble has midseason NBC comedy series Hot & Bothered, starring Longoria, as well as four other broadcast projects in development: genre drama Zone Of Silence at NBC with Blumhouse and writer Rashad Raisani, comedy Bonita & Mechelle at NBC with Will Packer Prods and writer Kriss Turner Towner, a comedy at ABC with veteran comedy writer Bobby Bowman and drama Casino with East Los High co-creator Carlos Portugal. The company is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment.

Depp’s Infinitum Nihil recently teamed with Richard Branson’s Virgin Produced and City Entertainment’s Joshua Maurer and Alixandre Witlin to produce a TV series based on the award- winning feature documentary Muscle Shoals. As an actor, Depp stars in Black Mass. He is repped by UTA.
