Sidney Kimmel Entertainment has come aboard director Adrian Lyne’s suspense thriller The Silent Wife which will star Nicole Kidman to fully finance and co-produce. Deadline first broke the news of the project late last month. Based on a best-selling book by A.S.A. Harrison, the project reunites Kimmel with Lyne who last worked together on 9 1/2 Weeks.
Kimmel’s involvement on the Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) scripted project was announced today by SKE president John Penotti and its president of production Carla Hacken. It also reunites Hacken with Lyne as she was a production executive at 20th Century Fox when he directed Unfaithful.
Based on the original bestselling book by A.S.A. Harrison, the screenplay was written Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, The Secret In Their Eyes). The Silent Wife is about dedicated wife who, despite her husband Todd’s frequent indiscretions, continues to play the part with immaculate precision. When confronted with the brutal truth of him leaving her for a younger woman, Jodi will not accept defeat. What begins as a tragic dissolution of a marriage quickly spirals into a game of cat and mouse with calamitous stakes.
Kimmel will produce with Kidman and Per Saari’s Blossom Films (Rabbit Hole), Lyne, Paula Mazure and Mitchell Kaplan’s Mazur/Kaplan Co. Penotti and Hacken will serve as executive producers.
FilmNation Entertainment announced last week it would initiate international sales of the film prior to the AFM launch this week in Santa Monica. CAA, which reps Lyne, Kidman and Ray, will handle U.S. sales. The agency brokered the deal with FilmNation.
