In Laura Dern’s latest collaboration with HBO, the former Enlightened star will executive produce a drama project from Bridesmaids co-writer Annie Mumolo. The untitled project, now in development, takes on the story of a pioneering American saleswoman largely responsible for the development of the home party system of marketing. It reveals how she impacted people globally, on a subversive level, in profound and even shocking ways. (In the U.S., the party plan is associated with saleswoman Brownie Wise, who introduced for Tupperware and is credited with the brand’s success.)
Mumolo will co-write the script with her husband and writing partner Tim Lovestedt. The two will executive produce with Dern and Jayme Lemons.

At HBO, Dern also executive produces with her Wild co-star Reese Witherspoon Tiny Beautiful Things, a drama series in development based on the book by Wild author Cheryl Strayed. She also is in talks for an acting gig at the pay cable network, a follow-up to her Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe-winning turns in HBO’s Enlightened and Recount. Dern is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Gang Tyre.
Mumolo and Lovestedt, who also executive produce the ABC comedy project Wheeler Dealer, written by Benched co-creator Damon Jones, are repped by UTA, Thruline and attorney Karl Austen. On the features side Mumolo co-wrote the new David O. Russell movie Joy starring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro.
