Forest Whitaker and Vince Vaughn have been set to star in The Archbishop And The Antichrist, a drama to be directed by Roland Joffé. The script, co-written by Joffé and Michael Ashton and based on Ashton’s play, follows a fictionalized account of meetings between Archbishop Desmond Tutu (Whitaker) and brutal murderer Piet Blomfield (Vaughn), who seeks redemption for the atrocities he’s committed while he serves a life sentence in prison in post-apartheid South Africa.
Craig Baumgarten is producing via Link Entertainment and Kim Ashton is executive producing.
The pic is in preproduction and begins shooting in early 2016. 13 Films is handling international rights and will introduce the project to buyers at the American Film Market. WME Global is handling North American rights.
