Lisa Kudrow and Dan Bucatinsky’s Is Or Isn’t Entertainment (Web Therapy) has teamed with Ryan Seacrest’s Ryan Seacrest Productions (Shades Of Blue) for a single-camera comedy project, which has landed at ABC with a put pilot commitment. Written by actor-writer Bucatinsky and comedian-writer Jen Kirkman, the untitled comedy revolves around four women friends rattled by a fortysomething feeling of irrelevance who embark on a mission to turn their invisibility into invincibility. Bucatinsky, Kudrow, Seacrest and RSP’s Nina Wass executive produce, with Kirkman serving as co-executive producer. CBS TV Studios, where RSP has an overall deal, is the studio.
This marks Bucatinsky’s return to ABC where he had a recurring role on Shonda Rhimes’ Scandal that earned him an Emmy, worked as a writer on Rhimes’ Grey’s Anatomy, and developed a script with Shondaland. With producing partner Kudrow, he executive produced the Kudow-starring The Comeback and Web Therapy, with the duo’s docuseries Who Do You Think You Are? continuing its run.
Kirkman’s debut Netflix original comedy special I’m Gonna Die Alone (And I Feel Fine) is available for streaming. Kirkman, also is a bestselling author, was a longtime writer and roundtable guest on Chelsea Lately and served as the narrator in many episodes of the web-turned-TV series Drunk History.
RSP also has drama The Down Beat, with writer Paul Downs Colaizzo and Ludacris producing, set at CBS.
The project was packaged by CAA. Kirkman is repped by CAA, Avalon, and Derek Kroeger. Bucatinsky is repped by CAA, Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management, and Bob Myman. Kudrow is repped by CAA and Mark Gochman. Ryan Seacrest Productions is repped by CAA and John Meigs.
