Robert Zemeckis’ next movie, a sweeping romantic thriller starring Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, will be released on November 23, 2016, Paramount Pictures said today. The epic project scripted by Steven Knight and produced by Graham King and his GK Films banner is also being produced by Zemeckis and Steve Starkey. Jack Rapke, Knight, Patrick McCormick and Denis O’Sullivan are also listed as EPs.

Zemeckis’ previous collaboration at Paramount was Flight which made $161.8M off a $31M production cost and earned two Oscar nominations for leading actor Denzel Washington and John Gatins’ original screenplay. The director recently released The Walk via Sony/TriStar, and it was one of the adult-title misfires at the fall box office making $10M stateside (The film’s overseas ticket sales are faring better at $28M).

The logline for the new movie is being kept under wraps, but has been billed as a big-scale spy thriller.

That date is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Paramount release will go up against Universal’s The Great Wall from Chinese director Zhang Yimou starring Matt Damon and William Dafoe, as well as Disney’s animated South Pacific-set feature Moana with Dwayne Johnson providing voice-over.

King and Knight are also partnered on the action-thriller The Red Circle, which is a remake of the French title Le Cercle Rouge and reset in Hong Kong. Knight wrote the script and King is producing under GK Films.
