ABC News announced this afternoon Barbara Walters has landed a sit down with GOP frontrunner for its Friday newsmag 20/20. Trump’s wife Melania joins in the conversation and ABC is billing it as her first broadcast interview since Trump declared his presidential run. Trump children also sit down with Walters. While the interview won’t air until Friday, the first bits will air this evening on World News Tonight with David Muir. Additional portions will be scattered across Good Morning America, Nightline and other ABC News platforms.
Full disclosure: Babs has said publicly she is a good friend of Trump’s and has known him many years. She knows him well enough to tell him, back in 2012, he looked like a fool waving that $5 million charitable donation offer in front of Obama, if Obama would cough up his college records and passport.

“Donald, you and I have known each other for many years…and I think you are a brilliant businessman. You are great on television, and you have a fascinating personality. But Donald, you’re making a fool of yourself,” Walters said she told Trump, during an appearance on The View back then. Perhaps this time she’ll weigh in on his decision to host Saturday Night Live while running for the White House.
BTW, Trump responded then, as he responds to criticism now – via Twitter, telling Walters, “unfortunately you’ve missed the entire point,” and predicting she would apologize “just like she did when I was right about @Rosie,” and wondering of Babs “Why did you choose me as one of the 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year last season (and more than once?)”
