Former Relativity Media president of music Bob Bowen has been tapped by Amazon Studios to become Head Of Music as the streaming service’s original content operations continue to grow. He will be tasked with leading the studio’s music strategy, partnerships and licensing; drawing talent to work on its series and movies; and building partnerships and opportunities to leverage the body of musical works for platforms like Amazon’s own Prime Music.
Bowen’s credits include working pics including Dallas Buyers Club, Wedding Crashers, Elf and Safe Haven. Before Relativity he was EVP Music at New Line Cinema.
Amazon Studios has been ramping up on hires to support its expanding content efforts, recently hiring Donna Rosenstein as head of casting and tapping The Weinstein Company’s Julie Rapaport to be an exec in production and programming.
