Greg Germann and Katherine Castro have joined the cast of Reinbou, a fantasy pic from Andrés Curbelo that begins filming this week in the Dominican Republic. Based on the novel Maceta, it tells the story of the 1965 American invasion into the Dominican Republic seen through the magical eyes of a child, Angel Maceta. It centers on Captain Horton (Germann), one of the commanders who leads the invasion and marries a young native Dominican (Castro). Gilberto Morillo, Nashla Bogaert and David Maler are producing the film, which also stars Hector Anibal. Exec producer Gilberto Morillo will be touting the film at AFM later this week.
Great Point Media will launch worldwide sales at the AFM for Blue Angel, a romantic thriller starring Stanley Tucci, Kyra Sedgwick and Addison Timlin from writer-director Richard Levine. Based on Francine Prose’s novel, the film movie centers on Ted Swenson (Tucci), a tormented writer and professor at a small New England university. Despite a loving marriage, his unresolved personal conflicts — both with his daughter and stalled career — manifest in unexpected and disastrous ways as he becomes obsessed with Angela Argo (Timlin), a talented student whose writing both inspires him and fills him with regret. Janeane Garofalo co-stars in the pic produced by Jared Ian Goldman and Wren Arthur and funded by Great Point.
