Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment is teaming up with Hualien Media and Mission Control Entertainment, along with producer/writer Bill Macdonald and director Ralph Hemecker, on a new action franchise called Arch Alien, it was announced today. The first film in the series, also called Arch Alien, is scheduled to begin filming March 7, 2016, and will be shot in multiple countries including the U.S. and China. A comic book tie-in, published in both English and Chinese, is planned for release in early 2016.
Described as rooted in conspiracy, mysticism, and alien mythology, details about the film are being kept under wraps for now, though the team is set to discuss them at a panel this weekend during the Stan Lee Comikaze fan convention, held through Sunday at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The story and characters were co-written by Lee, Macdonald, and Hemecker. Macdonald and Hemecker also wrote the screenplay, and Hemecker is set to direct. The film is fully financed by Hualien Media, and will be executive produced by Hualien Media’s George Hsieh, Brandon Millan, Gill Champion and Sam Frankel. Marcus Morton is producing.
