How about that? Vin Scully, who has been calling Dodgers games since the Truman administration, will miss the team’s playoff run as he recovers from a medical procedure. The team announced the unwelcome news on Twitter:

The team did not give details about Scully’s procedure.

The Baseball Hall of Famer said in August that he will return to the Dodgers booth for a 67th season next year, the longest tenure of any sports announcer with one team, but not having him calling the playoff games is the equivalent of a silver sombrero for fans. As Scully famously — and often — was quoted on Jim Healy’s old L.A. radio program, “I can’t believe it.”
