EXCLUSIVE: Robbie Brenner has set at The Firm her first project since leaving Relativity to become partner and film division president at Jeff Kwatinetz’s production/management company. And the film is one that she put together at Relativity, the company that is preparing to pull itself out of Chapter 11.
Firm Films has set up Tribes Of Palos Verdes, and Jennifer Garner and Maika Monroe (The Guest) are set to star, with Emmett & Brendan Malloy directing. Karen Croner adapted the debut novel by Joy Nicholson. It’s set in the affluent community of Palos Verdes, CA and centers on two teenagers, Medina (Monroe) and Jim, who move to the beach town with their parents. Their mother (Garner) teeters on the brink of a nervous breakdown while their father becomes a surgeon to the stars. Medina turns to surfing to escape her troubled home life. The film will shoot in February in Los Angeles.
Brenner is producing the film along with Croner, who scripted Admission and One True Thing. Kwatinetz is exec producer as is Kevin McKeon, The Firm’s creative exec who’s overseeing this with Brenner. Fortitude International co-founders Nadine de Barros, Robert Ogden Barnum and Daniel Wagner are handling foreign sales. WME reps Garner and Monroe.
The Malloys directed Out Cold, The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights and Big Easy Express.
