The new (and well-edited from AV Squad) trailer for the horror film The Boy has surged to 4.87 million views on YouTube since it officially dropped only days ago and has a total of about 17.5M views all in across all social media formats. The film, which is set for release on January 22, 2016, stars The Walking Dead‘s Lauren Cohan and Rupert Evans (The Man In The High Castle) and was directed by William Brent Bell. The creepy film was produced by Lakeshore Entertainment’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi along with Roy Lee, Matt Berenson and Jim Wedaa.
It was the fourth film to be put into production by STX but will be the third to release after The Secret In Their Eyes which stars Chiwetel Ejifor, Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman and bows in November.
The Boy is about an American woman who takes a job in a small England village as a nanny for an elderly couple’s 8-year-old son (which appears to be a porcelain life-sized doll). They leave a list of rules for her to follow while they vacation, but when she starts breaking those rules, the boy retaliates.
