Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany is early negotiations to star in Stronger, an upcoming film about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that will focus on survivor Jeff Bauman, who lost both legs during the attack. Bauman, whose memoir is the basis for the film, was at the finish line in support of his girlfriend, who running in the marathon. His position placed him close to the explosion that killed three injured hundreds and. One of several films based on the tragedy currently being developed, it will star Jake Gyllenhaal as Bauman, and Maslany would star as Bauman’s girlfriend. The Mandeville Films/TV team of David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce along with Scott Silver.
Maslany is best known for her acclaimed performance on Orphan Black, playing numerous clones of the same character, all with highly distinct personalities and character traits. She was nominated for an Emmy this year. She’s repped by ICM, Magnolia Entertainment and in Canada, Characters Talent Agency.

Alex Wolff, the younger brother of Paper Towns star Nat Wolff, will appear opposite recently-announced Olivia Holt in The Standoff. The indie teen comedy is about eight rivals competing in a Hands On A Hardbody-style contest to win a luxury vehicle. Over three sleepless days, the contestants must stay standing, and keep a hand firmly on the car without lifting (aside from a few breaks). It’s directed by Ilyssa Goodman from a script by Leigh Dunlap.
Wolff has a few other projects in the works. He’ll be seen in Coming Through The Rye with Chris Cooper, written and directed by James Steven Sadwith; My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, directed by Kirk Jones and written by Nia Vardalos; and the upcoming Boots, which he wrote, directed and stars in. He’s repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
