In a competitive situation, Fox has given a script with penalty commitment to Summer People, an hourlong drama from Twisted creator Adam Milch, The Firm and Sony Pictures TV. Written and executive produced by Milch, Summer People is described as provocative drama exploring class and sexuality on a fictional version of Martha’s Vineyard, an island known for the movie stars, politicians and Wall Street power brokers who descend there every summer, disrupting the lives of the blue collar locals. The Firm’s Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry also executive produce.
This marks Milch, Kwatinetz and Barry’s second consecutive drama project at Fox. Last season, they developed mystery-thriller Patriarch through Kwatinetz’s previous banner, Prospect Park.
Milch, repped by Rothman Brecher, Echo Lake Entertainment and attorney Isaac Dunham, serves as co-executive producer on Bravo’s Girfriend’s Guide To Divorce.
In addition to Summer People, The Firm and Sony Pictures TV have Notorious, inspired by the relationship between famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and long-time Larry King Live executive producer Wendy Walker, set up at ABC as put pilot. The company also has Talent, a drama with elements of music, at NBC from writer Shaun Cassidy, and a Kelly Masterson project at ABC.
