Steve Zahn Suiting Up As Simian In ‘War For The Planet Of The Apes’

Steve Zahn is set to play a new ape character in War For The Planet Of The Apes, the third installment of the rebooted series for 20th Century Fox. Details of his character and the plot are under wraps. He joins a cast that returns Andy Serkis as dominant ape Caesar and Gabriel Chavarria (Low Riders) and Woody Harrelson as human types. Matt Reeves co-wrote the Chernin Entertainment pic with Mark Bomback, and Reeves returns to direct after 2014’s Dawn Of the Planet Of The Apes scooped more than $700 million worldwide. Dylan Clark, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver are producing.

Zahn starred on HBO’s Treme and recurs on Modern Family and also appeared in Dallas Buyers Club. He is in theaters next month as part of the voice cast for Disney/Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur. Other upcoming pics include Captain Fantastic, The Ridiculous 6 and Robodog. He is repped by UTA, Principal Entertainment and attorney Frank Stewart.
