Stephen Colbert Warms Up ‘Late Show’ Crowd For Hillary Clinton Visit

Back from a week off, The Late Show host Stephen Colbert brought his audience up to speed on Hillary Clinton’s week, as he prepared to become the latest stop on the Dem presidential hopeful’s charm offensive. Colbert himself has been prepping for this moment since his first week as host of the CBS late-night show in September, when he detailed Clinton’s carefully formulated plan to become more spontaneous and genuine coinciding with the start of her march through the late-night TV landscape.

Back then, one political strategist told the New York Times that the same force giving Donald Trump his lift is “dooming” Clinton, and that’s authenticity, because “experience does not matter to [voters].”  Speaking of authenticity, as Clinton prepares to sit down with Colbert tonight, Trump spends the day explaining his slide in national polls behind GOP hopeful Ben Carson on the eve of CNBC’s GOP debate.
