When you ask James Bond, “Why did you come?” and he replies, “I came here to kill you,” it’s generally time to start getting your affairs in order. Probate sales can be so messy. But Franz Oberhauser (Christoph Waltz) isn’t shaken, or stirred. “And I thought you came here to die.” Welcome to the final trailer for Spectre, the latest 007 adventure starring Daniel Craig in his fourth outing as the British superspy with a license to kill. Our well-tailored hero is out to crush SPECTRE, a secret organization with a sinister plan. Not unsurprisingly, we get a full plate of explosions, fisticuffs and chases involving cars, planes and helicopters — all set to the rousing, familiar theme. No hint of that new Sam Smith theme song.
This is the 24th film in the Bond canon — the second in a row from director Sam Mendes — and the Ian Fleming-created franchise is coming off its most lucrative case by far. Skyfall banked $1.11 billion after its 2012 release, breaking records like they were bad guys’ jaws. This go-round also stars new Bond girls Léa Seydoux and Monica Bellucci along with Andrew Scott, Jesper Christensen, Ben Whishaw as Q, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris as Moneypenny. The MGM/Columbia film hits U.S. theaters November 6, after an October 26 bow in the UK and Ireland and Scandinavian rollout.
