ABC Family (soon to be Freeform) has posted a sneak peak at its new series Shadowhunters. Earlier today at New York Comic-Con, showrunner Ed Decter also revealed the show would premiere at 9PM Tuesday, January 12 on the rebranded Freeform. In the runup to the show based on Cassandra Clare’s bestselling fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments, the network also will air Beyond the Shadows: The Making of Shadowhunters on Sunday, December 6th at 9:30PM. In January, the Disney-owned network will be rebranded as Freeform.
The series follows 18-year-old Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara), whose world is turned upside-down when she discovers that she descends from a long line of Shadowhunters — human-angel hybrids who hunt demons. In Beyond The Shadows the cast will talk about how they won their roles, and for the uninitiated they also will explain what the Shadow World encompasses.
In addition to McNamara, Shadowhunters stars Dominic Sherwood, Harry Shum Jr., Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia and Isaiah Mustafa. The series is produced by Constantin Film and executive produced by Ed Decter and McG, who directed the premiere episode.
