Act Of Valor and Need For Speed director Scott Waugh has become attached to helm Blackout, an action thriller to be financed and produced by Sierra/Affinity. Broken Road’s Todd Garner and Jeremy Stein are producing the pic, and Sierra/Affinity’s Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg are executive producing.
The script by Sidney King (with revisions by Brooks McLaren) centers on a cop tasked with transporting a mysterious and dangerous criminal across town who is put to the test when a citywide blackout plunges them into darkness and chaos.
Sierra/Affinity EVP Production and Development Kelly McCormick is overseeing the production for the company, which is ready to shoot its next pic The Coldest City with Charlize Theron and James McAvoy next month in Budapest.
Waugh is also attached to Outlaws Inc., a fact-based drama about military men who turn to mercenary work. That pic is scripted by Banshee co-creator David Schickler and it’s set with Thunder Road and Fundamental Films, with Basil Iwanyk and Mark Gao producing. Waugh is repped by WME which has domestic rights.
King is repped by UTA and Industry Entertainment. McLaren, who comes on a a co-producer, is repped by Verve and manager and George Heller.
