‘Roseanne’ Adaptation Gets Pilot Order In Russia

Sony Pictures Television is bringing another classic American sitcom to Russia with a local adaptation. Independent broadcaster CTC has ordered a pilot for Katya, a Russian version of Roseanne, the long running blue-collar family ABC sitcom starring Roseanne Barr.

Roseanne follows the success SPT has had in Russia with the local version of Everybody Loves Raymond. Titled The Voronins, the Russian adaptation of Raymond currently is the longest-running scripted program in the country and recently returned for its eighth season on CTC. SPT’s Russian versions of Married… with Children and The Nanny also did very well, and the studio also launched a local version of The King of Queens.
