‘Oculus’ Helmer Mike Flanagan Signs With WME

EXCLUSIVE: WME has signed up-and-coming genre writer-director Mike Flanagan. Best known for the horror pic Oculus, Flanagan is currently directing Ouija 2 for Universal from a script he wrote with Jeff Howard, his Oculus co-writer. Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse Pictures are producing.

The signing comes after Flanagan’s horror pic Hush was sprung on buyers as a surprise during the Toronto Film Festival. WME Global is repping that movie. Flanagan most recently wrapped Before I Wake, which he also wrote with Howard and which stars Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane. That film’s produced by Intrepid Pictures’ Trevor Macy, who produced Hush and Oculus. Flanagan, who had been at APA, is attached to write and direct Diver and Gerald’s Game, the latter an adaptation of the Stephen King novel. Flanagan continues to be repped by Joel Vanderkloot of Nelson Davis.
