True Blood‘s Kristin Bauer Van Straten has joined the cast of Nocturnal Animals, joining Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams, along with Kim Basinger, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ellie Bamber and Robert Aramayo. Based on the book Tony and Susan by Austen Wright, the film follows Susan Morrow, a woman whose life is changed after she receives the manuscript for her ex-husband’s new novel in the mail. Reading about the life of its protagonist, Tony Hastings, Susan is forced to confront her own demons. Van Straten is playing Samantha, Susan’s opinionated boss.
Written and directed by Tom Ford, it’s produced by Ford, Diane L. Sabatini and Robert Salerno. Van Straten is represented by Innovative Artists and LINK Entertainment.
McG’s The Babysitter has added another charge, with Emily Alyn Lind joining the cast of the film. Based on a blacklist script written by Brian Duffield that sparked a bidding war earlier this year, the film follows a 12-year old boy and his babysitter during a crazy night when things go horribly wrong. Lind’s role is still being kept under wraps, but we’re told she’ll be playing the character “Melanie,” the boy’s wise-beyond-her-years friend whose interest in the babysitter’s personal life plays a role in the night going belly up.
Duffield is Executive Producing, along with newly promoted Wonderland Vice President Steven Bello. McG and Mary Viola will produce. The film is being co-financed through a partnership between Zack Schiller of Boies/Schiller Film Group and Wonderland, with New Line execs Richard Brener, Walter Hamada and Dave Neustadter overseeing. Lind is repped by Coast to Coast Talent, and legal rep Harris Hartman. Production on The Babysitter began this week in Los Angeles.
