Nikki M. James (The Book Of Mormon) has joined the cast of BrainDead, CBS’ upcoming summer series from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King. The comic-thriller, from CBS TV Studios, centers on Laurel (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a young, fresh-faced Hill staffer whose first job in Washington, D.C. leads her to discover two things: The government has stopped working, and alien spawn have come to Earth and eaten the brains of a growing number of congressmen and Hill staffers. James will play Rochelle, a medical resident whose father died as the result of a mysterious infection. She and Laurel (Winstead) team up to learn what happened to her father, and protect others from the same fate. James won a Tony for featured actress in a musical for The Book Of Mormon. She also recurs this season on The Good Wife.
Fernando Chien and Dichen Lachman have been cast in recurring roles on the third season of Michael Bay’s action-adventure TNT series The Last Ship. Based on William Brinkley’s novel, The Last Ship deals with a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoids falling victim to the devastating tragedy. The captain and crew confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors. Chien, repped by Coast to Coast Talent Agency and East West Artists, will play Peng, the new leader of post-plague China. Lachman will play Jesse, the helicopter pilot who lives off the grid. Chien will next be seen in Gavin O’Connor-directed The Accountant. Lachman, repped by Gersh, McKeon/Myones Management and attorney Neil Meyer, previously recurred on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D, Shameless, and Dollhouse.
