Comedy veterans Max Mutchnick and Jeff Astrof have partnered to write and executive produce The Happy Peppers, a multi-camera comedy that has been set up at CBS. Warner Bros TV, where both Mutchnick and Astrof are under overall deals, is the studio.
The Happy Peppers is about Henry and Emily, an adult brother and sister who move in together after one of their spouses dies. They are each other’s shoulder to cry on, best friend, wingman and button-pusher.
Mutchnick is executive producing through his solo banner Too Mutch Ink. He also continues to occasionally collaborate with longtime writing partner David Kohan through their KoMut Entertainment. The two created together NBC’s Will & Grace, TBS’ Buzzy’s and the CBS/WBTV comedy series Partners, on which Astrof worked. Mutchnick, who also has Quick Shots Of False Hope, a single-camera comedy with Laura Kightlinger at HBO, is with WME.
Astrof, who is executive producing Happy Peppers through his Barge Productions, has a put pilot at NBC for a trial comedy he is writing/executive producing with Matt Miller for WBTV. Friends alum Astrof served as executive producer/showrunner on Warner Horizon’s TBS comedy series Ground Floor. He is repped bt ICM Partners.
