Lynn Collins (Man On Carrion Road), Athena Karkanis (Low Winter Sun), Carly Pope (24) and Barbara Eve Harris (Prison Break) have been cast as series regulars in the USA Network pilot Poor Richard’s Almanack (working title), from Legendary TV, Universal Cable Prods. and executive producer Jim Danger Gray (Orange Is The New Black).
Weaving between modern day and a possible future where characters have changed radically, Poor Richard’s Almanack is a character thriller about a cadre of heroes who emerge as the new “Founding Fathers” after America is pushed to the brink of collapse.
Collins will play Julia Winslow, a postal worker inadvertently dragged into a radical conspiracy on account of her fiancé’s former links to the CIA. As chaos descends on America, she finds herself sucked into a world of power and intrigue where she can’t even trust the man she loves.
Karkanis will play Penny Richards, an already seen-it-all surgeon who finds herself in the ethical dilemma of having to keep a wounded bomber alive so the FBI can interrogate him, rather than tend to his victims.
Pope will play Brooke Beaudine, an ambitious local network journalist whose reporting on a deadly attack in Philadelphia puts her on the trail of a group of extremists who may be responsible.
Harris plays Elizabeth Walker, Director of National Intelligence during an attack on Philadelphia. As she struggles to plug the holes in her intelligence network before there can be another attack, she finds herself dead center in a conspiracy that threatens the entire country.
Neil Marshall will direct the pilot and will executive produce alongside Gray and Marc Helwig. Miguel Sapochnik serves as consulting producer.
Collins most recently wrapped features Man On Carrion Road and Lost In The Sun opposite Josh Duhamel. She also starred in 10 Years pposite Channing Tatum, Justin Long, Chris Pine and Anna Faris. TV credits include Covert Affairs, True Blood and Haunted. Collins is repped by Paradigm and Untitled Entertainment.
Karkanis most recently appeared in The Lottery, Low Winter Sun, Transporter and The Border. Other recent TV appearances include Supernatural, The Firm, Lost Girl, and Covert Affairs. Pope has recurred on Tomorrow People and recently starred in indie Lost Boy opposite Virginia Madsen. TV credits include a starring role in NBC’s Outlaw opposite Jimmy Smits. She is repped by The Gersh Agency, Tyman Stewart at Characters and LINK.
Harris recurred on the final three seasons of Prison Break. Her other credits include Dead Men Can’t Dance and In His Father’s Shoes. Harris is repped by Rich Caplan at Noble Caplan Abrams.
