Lionsgate and its Grindstone Entertainment Group have extended their long-term partnership
with Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films for another five movies, several of which will be released through Lionsgate’s recently launched Premiere label. The deal extends the mini-major’s relationship with Emmett/Furla principals Randall Emmett and George Furla. The slate includes the Robert De Niro-Kate Bosworth pic Heist, the Bruce Willis-Kellan Lutz-Gina Carano action film The Extraction and the recently wrapped Marauders with Willis, Christopher Meloni, Adrian Grenier and Dave Bautista.
“Grindstone is an important contributor to our Motion Picture Group, and their partnership with Emmett/Furla/Oasis has been a consistent source of commercially exciting, star-driven event films,” said Lionsgate co-COO and Motion Picture Group President Steve Beeks in a statement. “We’re delighted to extend the relationship through another five films and add Emmett Furla’s trademark action, excitement and audience appeal to our pipeline of movies. Randall, George and their entire creative team are a proven commodity, and their slate is a perfect fit for Grindstone, Lionsgate Premiere and other labels.”
Said Emmett: “After so many years of a fruitful partnership, we found the right formula to make it successful. We are thrilled to continue this work and be part of the Lionsgate family.” Emmett and Furla are producers on the upcoming Martin Scorsese-directed Silence.
Emmett/Furla has separately partnered with Lionsgate on Rambo, Wonderland, Narc and last year’s Escape Plan, the action film that starred Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger that became a huge hit in China and Russia and grossed nearly $140 million, most of it overseas.
