EXCLUSIVE: Kal Penn has signed with UTA for representation in all areas. The news comes the same day Fox announced that he will host Superhuman, a two-hour competition special set for January 4. The show will test the abilities of 12 ordinary people to use their extraordinary skills to win a $100,000 grand prize.
Best known for the Harold & Kumar movies and a run on Fox’s House, Penn just joined the cast of Hulu’s Deadbeat for its upcoming third season and is next up on the big screen in William H. Macy’s The Layover and an untitled Cullen Brothers film alongside Bruce Willis and John Goodman. He also is developing a half-hour scripted series at Lionsgate and is a correspondent on HBO’s Vice.
Penn has been busy after returning from a two-year stint an associate director of the White House Office of Public Engagement and as a member of President Obama’s National Arts Policy Committee, gigs that put his acting career on pause.
He had most recently been at Gersh and continues to be repped by manager Dan Spilo at Industry Entertainment.
