Rectify alum Johnny Ray Gill has booked a series regular role in BrainDead, CBS’ upcoming summer series from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King. The comic thriller, from CBS TV Studios, centers on Laurel (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a young, fresh-faced Hill staffer whose first job in Washington, D.C., leads her to discover two things: The government has stopped working, and alien spawn have come to Earth and eaten the brains of a growing number of congressmen and Hill staffers. Gill will play Gustav. An intuitive, eccentric genius, Gustav is the first in D.C. to recognize that there might be alien spawn attacking the Capital. Gustav has a million conspiracy theories but occasionally is totally right, which makes him Laurel’s valuable accomplice. Gill, repped by Stone Manners Salners Agency and Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management, next will be seen in WGN’s upcoming drama series Underground.
Kelli Goss (The Young & The Restless, Big Time Rush) has been cast in a recurring role opposite Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson in the Netflix comedy The Ranch. Created by Don Reo and Jim Patterson, The Ranch centers on the son of a Colorado rancher (Kutcher) who returns home from a semi-pro football career to run the family business. Goss, repped by Global Artists Agency and Luber/Roklin, will be playing Kutcher’s love interest.
