Most of Team SNL got into the act — including host Amy Schumer — for a classic TV-ad parody that would have been hilarious if it weren’t so poignantly timely: With heartstring-tugging scenes of family gatherings, first-love and a newborn babe right out of a telephone company or airline commercial, the bit quickly revealed the one thing that unites us all:
“We love family…connection…a sense of purpose…and also…guns,” the voiceover announced in dulcet tone. “Guns are there. They unite us, comfort us, bring us joy and strength. Wherever life takes you: GUNS. We’re here to stay.”
The subject came up again during a “City Council Meeting” sketch late in the show that also featured Schumer, in all her redneck-innocent glory…
… in which she asked for, among other things, the right to bear arms at school (and a ban on gay marriage). Jesus, of course, was also dragged into the testimony.
