On the heels of a strong launch for Greg Berlanti Prods.’ current drama series, the company has set up two more hight-profile hourlong projects for next season. CBS has given put pilot commitments to Out Of Body, written by Jennifer Johnson, and an untitled project from Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak. Both hail from Berlanti Prods. and Warner Bros. TV, where the company and the two writers are based, with Berlanti and Sarah Schechter executive producing.
Written/executive produced by Johnson, Out Of Body centers on a former criminal who inexplicably begins to jump into bodies of people in danger and has to use his skills to prevent them from being murdered or he could end up in a body bag himself. Todd Garner also executive produces.
Written/executive produced by Fedak, the untitled second project centers on a young tech genius billionaire who utilizes his cutting-edge technology and resources to partner with a street-smart but old-school San Francisco police detective to solve crimes committed by 21st century criminals. Fedak serves as an executive producer on Berlanti Prods’ upcoming CW drama Legends Of Tomorrow having worked as an executive producer on Forever last season.
Berlanti Prods. has six broadcast series this season. It is behind NBC drama Blindspot, the highest-rated new series this fall, which just received a full-season order. The company’s CW dramas The Flash and Arrow both returned to strong ratings this week and NBC sophomore The Mysteries Of Laura has been steady. Coming up are the company’s CBS drama Supergirl and Legends Of Tomorrow.
On the development front, Out Of Body and the untitled Fedak/Berlanti project join Berlanti Prods.’ drama Brides Of Dracula, written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, which has a pilot production commitment at NBC.
Berlanti, Johnson and Fedak are repped by WME.
