Fox has put in development a single-camera half-hour autobiographical comedy from Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life writer-producer Brian Rubenstein. He will write the pilot and executive produce with New Wave’s Matt Ochacher, Brian Volk-Weiss and Michael Pelmont.
Based on Rubenstein’s life, the untitled comedy focuses on Jessica Roberts, a loving wife, mom — and fiercely competitive women’s basketball coach. When she gets her dream job at a Division I school, she has to figure out how to juggle her family, her team and everything in between. The story is told through the eyes of her teenage son, who is struggling to become a man while constantly surrounded by 15 women.
Before Cooper Barrett’s Guide, Rubenstein was writer-producer of Comedy Central’s hit Tosh.0. Rubenstein also penned episodes of Suburgatory and Selfie. He’s repped by UTA and NWE.
