Caryn Mandabach, the producer who has had a hand in TV hits from Roseanne to Nurse Jackie to Peaky Blinders, has inked an exclusive multi-year pact with MGM Television to develop new hour and half-hour scripted content via her U.S.-based Caryn Mandabach Productions. The deal follows MGM TV’s success with series including the just-launched second season of FX’s Fargo, History’s Vikings and MTV’s recently renewed Teen Wolf.
The announcement was made today by Roma Khanna, President of Television Group and Digital; Steve Stark, President of Production & Development MGM Television; and Mandabach. The move adds to the ramp-up at MGM TV, which brought in TriStar Prods.’ Lindsay Sloane as EVP Television Production & Development in August.
“Caryn is a prolific veteran of the industry and is the driving force behind some of television’s most creative and intriguing series,” said Khanna. “We are thrilled to work together on bringing new stories to the marketplace.”
Mandabach’s London-based company, which produces Peaky Blinders for BBC Two and Netflix, will continue its existing first-look arrangement with Content Media.
“We are delighted to be in business with Roma, Steve and the team at MGM,” said Mandabach. “They are a talented, smart group of people with whom we share the same vision. CMP is committed to making engaging, relevant and groundbreaking drama. Now, with MGM, we are very well-positioned to develop an exceptional slate. The whole CMP team is excited by the potential this partnership offers.”
