Universal Pictures’ Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third installment in the movie franchise starring Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth, has secured a September 16, 2016 release date. The pic comes after the 2001 original from Miramax and its first sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason, in 2004. The franchise is based on Helen Fielding’s novel series.
Patrick Dempsey is joining the fray for the latest movie, from Universal, Miramax and Studiocanal and produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner alongside Debra Hayward. Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’s Diary) is back to direct.
The September 2016 date currently houses Sony/Screen Gems’ drama When The Bough Breaks.
The first two pics in the Bridget Jones series have grossed a combined $544.4M in worldwide box office.
