CBS has bought Adult Children, a half-hour comedy written/executive produced by Gabrielle Allan and Jennifer Crittenden and executive produced by Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment and former CBS head of comedy Wendi Trilling in her first stint as a producer. The project, from CBS TV Studios, is inspired by Trilling’s and Allan’s dads. It centers on a sunny, single, self-possessed woman in her thirties who has her neat and tidy life turned upside down when her washed-up father, a self-described seventies rock icon, forces himself back into her life and reconnects her with a collection of emotionally challenged half-siblings.
Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond alumna Crittenden and former Scrubs writer-producer Allan have been developing together for the past few seasons. They are repped by UTA and attorney Michael Gendler.
At CBS, Kaplan executive produces freshman comedy series Life In Pieces, which was developed by Trilling in her final season at the helm of CBS’ comedy department. The respected executive departed the network in May after more than 24 years. Kapital Entertainment also has Liz Feldman’s multi-camera comedy Hello Again set up at CBS with a put pilot commitment.
