EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a look at a clip from The Paradise Suite, which will world premiere Sunday at the Toronto Film Festival’s Discovery section. Penned and directed by Joost van Ginkel (170 HZ), the film follows six people from different backgrounds who are inextricably connected in Amsterdam. While dealing with the tribulation that circumstances have dealt them, the six, even through just a glance, irrevocably influence each other’s lives. The pic was recently chosen to rep the Netherlands in this year’s Foreign Language Film Oscar race.
The clip features three girls from Bulgaria (Anjela Nedyalkova, Silviya Petkova and Anna-Maria Nikolaeva) who travel to Amsterdam for a dream modeling gig, only to encounter the true horror behind their situation. It also features Boris Isakovic as Ivica, a Serbian war criminal and new father, who is confronted with the reality that his crimes will not go unpunished. Issaka Sawadogo (The Invader), Magnus Krepper (The Bridge), Raymond Thiry (Between 10 and 12) and Dragan Bakema (Brownian Movement) also star.
The pic is produced by PRPL and Bastide Films and Ellen Havenith, with Media Luna New Films handling international sales at Toronto.
