L+7 for the week ending September 11 had Colbert adding 1.62 million viewers, growing from 4.45 million to 6.07M. Among adults 18-49, Colbert’s show grew from a 0.9 rating to a 1.5 – a 67% spike. In the younger 18-34 demo, his show climbed 575K from a 0.7 to 1.1. Adding in delayed viewing up to seven days after broadcast, Colbert extended his lead over The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to 1.21M in overall crowd (initially he’d edged out Fallon by 510K). In the younger demo, Colbert and Fallon had tied in Live+Same Day viewing with a 0.9 rating each.
Digitally, Colbert’s unveiling on CBS is the network’s best series launch ever in terms of full-episode streams, topping all CBS primetime series. Premiere-to-date across digital platforms, all streams of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert are up triple-digit percentage points over the previous season. Colbert’s CBS program also has generated the most social impressions of any late night show; tweets about the show have been read 24 million times, according to Nielsen Social.
